The Simple Baby Travel Packing List

What You Actually Need (From a Mom Who Forgot the Pacifier)

three-quarters of parents forget something important when traveling with a baby.. Nearly 90% say forgetting a lovey or pacifier ruined at least one night of sleep.

I’ve been that mom who stood in an airport gift shop paying $12 for a pacifier because I forgot the 5-pack at home. Never again.

This guide is different. No fluff. Just the real stuff from parents who have survived flights, road trips and hotel rooms with a baby.

The Most Important Rule

Pack for the worst-case scenario. Then add 20% more.

Babies sense when you’re traveling. They will poop through three outfits in one hour. They will spit up on your clean shirt. They will lose the lovey. So plan for this.

Part 1: Feeding (Don’t Let the Hangry Baby Win)

A hungry baby on a plane is everyones problem.

For Bottle-Fed Babies

What you actually need:

* 3 to 4 bottles. Put -measured water in each one. Add formula powder when baby is ready to eat.

* Formula powder. Pre-measure into a travel dispenser. It costs $5 on Amazon.

* Ready-to-feed formula. Bring 2 to 4 bottles.

* Bottled water. Bring 2 or 3 bottles.

TSA tip: Formula, breast milk and baby food are exempt from limits.

For Breastfed Babies

What you actually need:

* Nursing cover

* Breast pump + charger

* pump parts

* Milk storage bags

* bag + ice packs

For Babies Eating Solids

Essentials You’ll Actually Use:

* Baby food pouches

* Spoons

* Bib with a pocket

* Snacks

The Burp Cloth Situation

Bring 5 to 8 burp cloths.

The Best Feeding Hack I Know

Pack a “flight feeding bag” from your main diaper bag.

Part 2: Diapering (Do the Math)

The Diaper Formula

For travel day: 1 diaper for every 2 hours of travel. Then add 10 emergency extras.

What You Actually Need

* Diapers

* Wipes

* Changing pad

* Diaper cream

* Swim diapers

* Scented disposable bags

Part 3: Sleep (The Difference Between Vacation and Survival)

A baby who doesn’t sleep = parents who don’t sleep.

What You Actually Need

* comfort object. Bring two identical ones.

* Portable sound machine

* Blackout solution

* Sleep sack

* Pajamas

* Travel crib

The Lovey Rule

Pack two comfort objects.

Part 4: Clothing (Pack Than You Think)

For Baby

For a 3-day trip pack:

* Onesies. 8 To 10.

Non-Negotiable

* Car seat

* Stroller

* Baby carrier or wrap

Nice to Have

* Pack ‘n play

* Portable high chair

The Airport Strategy That Works

Wear baby in carrier through security.

Part 6: Health & First Aid (Keep This in Your Carry-On)

* Infant Tylenol

* Infant ibuprofen

* Nose Frida + saline spray

* Thermometer

* Diaper cream

* Gas drops

* Teething gel

* Baby nail clippers

Sun Protection

Part 7: Random But Vital Extras

* Gallon Ziploc bags

* Sandwich Ziploc bags

* Dog poop bags

* Hand sanitizer

* Disinfecting wipes

* pacifiers

* Pacifier clips

Extra batteries for machine. Dead sound machine means no sleep.

Changing pad liners. We use cloth ones. Two layers of protection are a must.

Laundry soap sheets. Travel size is best. I wash one outfit in the sink overnight.

Small flashlight. It’s for finding the lovey under the hotel bed at 2am.

Emergency candy bar for parents. Trust me you will need this.

What NOT to Bring

* Your entire diaper stock for the week. Just buy diapers at your destination for trips.

* Glass baby food jars. They’re heavy can break. Its a hassle with TSA.

* baby clothes. They will get ruined so don’t bring them.

* Full-size anything. Buy travel sizes. Put some in small bottles.

* Baby shoes. They can’t walk yet so they’re useless.

* Bulky winter gear. Layer up instead.

* Your stress. Babies can sense it. You’ve got this.

Final Pre-Trip Checklist

3 days before travel:

* Call the pediatrician if the baby is sick or if you’re traveling internationally.

* Fill prescriptions. Pack them in your carry-on.

* Download white. Offline music on your phone.

* Charge the sound machine, pump, phone and power bank.

* Confirm the hotel has a crib if you need one.

* Pack a “flight feeding bag” from the main diaper bag.

Night before travel:

* Diaper bag packed. By the door.

* Car. Stroller ready for gate check.

* Extra outfit for the baby in YOUR carry-on not the diaper bag.

* Extra shirt for YOU in your carry-on.

* Ziploc bags in the diaper bag.

* Two loveys packed, one hidden in the checked bag.

At the airport:

* Change the diaper before security.

* Feed the baby during takeoff and landing it helps with ear popping.

* Gate check the stroller and car seat.

* Breathe you’ve got this.

The Honest Truth

You will forget something. It’s okay.

Airports have stores hotels have desks and other parents will help you.

The only things you can’t replace at your destination are:

* Prescription medicine.

* Lovey, bring the backup.

* Car seat don’t rent one.

Everything ? You can buy it there. Survive without it.

You’re ready, mama. Go make memories.. Yes the candy bar, for you is essential.
